On my first trip to India I was very ill with amebic dysentery and one morning as I tried to buy some fruit on the street, I was offered two young children to sexually abuse for a few rupees. It was very confronting offer and I felt things that I hadn't felt since my own experience with childhood abuse.

Five years passed, and I was working in the Andaman Islands of India doing humanitarian work weeks after the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004. I came across the same form of evil that I had seen on my first visit to India. Families who had lost their fields to salt water were repaying their debts to their landlords by selling and giving their children as slaves.

On my return to Australia I decided to start FreeToBeKids, for kids who have no rights, the ones who no one cares about. I wanted FreeToBeKids to create a home with love for children who have become a commodity to their exploiters and abusers.
